What’s Your Business Plan After the Current World Crisis?
Like everything, the world lock down will end. What is your organization’s strategic plan when it does? What are the first things you’ll do?
Now is the time to really focus on who you are as a brand and organization, and how you will adapt. Let me ask you a question: how will your company adapt and evolve after the pandemic crisis is over to make sure you are still in business?
The current world crisis is not something new. We have lived through world wars, other pandemics, recessions and depressions. What makes this pandemic different is how quick it spread and how quick the world reacted to it. After everything, many say businesses will need to adapt and evolve. There are many cases where unexpected events put companies out of business. The ones who could not reinvent themselves by recommitting to the old way of doing business couldn’t survive. Those businesses who reinvented themselves survived and came out stronger. The creation of the internet put many companies out of business including most video stores that went out of business because of streaming and they couldn’t compete. When big coffee chains like Starbucks, Dutch Bros and Thomas Hammer opened coffee stores, many local coffee shops closed. The coffee shops closed, not because of big coffee stores, but because they refused to change the way they did business. Uber and Lyft are putting taxi companies out of business because taxi companies refuse to change.
Business crises are not unique to today. Is what’s going on in the world today shocking? Definitely! But this is not unprecedented in the business world. So, I will again ask you, as a leader, how will your company adapt and evolve after the pandemic crisis is over to make sure you’re still in business?
